TEACHING
I present writing and publishing programs at Rancho La Puerta and would be delighted to bring these popular, inspiring workshops to your group or organization. Representative feedback from attendees:
“Erin’s presentation was full of specific, helpful information. She is personable, warm and approachable. She made herself available to the guests after class, during meals and in the event one would run into her on the grounds.”
“I took several workshops from Erin on how to get inspired with story ideas, how to write your story, and how to get self-published. Erin is a wealth of knowledge. She provides just the right level of information, identifies a variety of resources to explore, and is clear in the potential next steps to get you to take action.”
WRITING COACHING
When writers are overwhelmed with drafting a novel, memoir or non-fiction book, I provide advice for overcoming writer’s block, being productive and getting your work-in-progress over the finish line. Here’s one client’s feedback:
“As a coach, Erin is direct, thoughtful and supportive. Her comments are always helpful and always come from the intent to make the work better. She is a true partner for me in getting my book out. She has been very patient with all my questions and concerns as a first-time author. I feel lucky in finding Erin to be part of my writing journey as we connect so well and she is so knowledgeable. I would highly recommend her for coaching.”
EDITORIAL ASSESSMENTS AND DEVELOPMENTAL EDITING
If you’re seeking high-level feedback on partial or full manuscripts, whether fiction or non-fiction, I provide editorial assessments and developmental editing. An editorial assessment is a big-picture evaluation of a manuscript’s strengths and challenges, and includes feedback about plot, structure, and characterization. A developmental edit includes all elements of editorial assessments as well as an analysis of plot holes, leaps in logic, missing or extraneous scenes or chapters, and usually includes specific comments within the manuscript document itself. In both cases, my summary report will not simply point out issues in the manuscript but, importantly, will offer specific prompts for rewriting and tips for revision.
Here’s what clients say about my editorial feedback:
“I cannot say enough about Erin. She provided me with a detailed report that highlights the story’s strengths and weaknesses. She also provided me with suggestions and several ways to make the story better. I highly recommend her services. She is brilliant.”
“Erin did an Editorial Assessment for my manuscript and her insight was beyond my expectations. Erin was able to dissect the manuscript and give come up with ideas I had not thought about. She showed me its strength as well as weaknesses and came up with ideas on how to improve it. She is a talented editor and I will definitely use her services again. I highly recommend her.”
“This isn’t your average beta reading service that just offers a summary of your book with a few improvement suggestions. The report dives deep, pinpointing specific issues chapter by chapter, with guidance on how to address them. Plus, she delivered it super-fast and answered all my follow-up questions.”
“I asked Erin to assess a manuscript for me and she provided wonderful insights. She took a simple manuscript and turned it into a masterpiece. I would recommend her to anyone looking a developmental editor.”
